The last four years have been four years of indiscriminate, equal governance for the people of the country, said the President.

He made this statement while speaking at an official ceremony held to celebrate the Republic Day of the Maldives.

The President said that four years ago, the people of the Maldives were assured, not to discriminate against anyone in fulfilling their aspirations.

"Four years later today. With certainty, I can say this today. The past four years have been equal for the people of the Maldives without breaking that promise. By the grace of Allah, I have done it," he said.

The President said that as we celebrate Republic Day today, this is, an appropriate time to slip our memories back four years. The President said back then, the country was in worry and fear.

"The reason was the lack of certainty in the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. Anyone who disagrees has become an enemy of the government. The main reason then was the loss of the rules of democracy envisioned by the Constitution. As a result, the system of governance was tarnished, and it was impossible to see both sides of what was going on," the President said.

Since then, the people wanted to return to the path of justice and the state to be based on a transparent and accountable Constitution, he said.

The President said he has worked for the past four years to fulfill the responsibility of the people of the Maldives. It is to move forward with equality without discrimination and to save society from political quarrels, jealousy and hatred.
