The MDP presidential candidate and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the presidential election can be won by a coalition and that those who opposed the coalition are now speaking about forming coalitions.

He made the statement while speaking at a meeting with Hirilandhoo MDP members on Thursday night.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih said that the formula for winning an election is to form a coalition. There is no other option, he said.

Furthermore, indirectly referring to President Nasheed, the President Solih said that those who refused to form a coalition in the past are now supporting to form a coalition with different parties.

The President said that discussions are being held with the political parties in the current government coalition to form a coalition in the upcoming presidential election as well. The President said it was important to invite the parties in the coalition to contest for a second term. He also said he hoped the coalition talks would yield a positive outcome.

During the meeting with the MDP members, President reiterated his confidence that the upcoming presidential election will be won by a large margin.
