The Prosecutor General's Office has been requested to charge former Defense Minister Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel in relation to the MMPRC case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stated that the money received by former Defense Minister Major General (retd) Moosa Ali Jaleel through former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor from the lease of islands and lagoons for tourism purposes via MMPRC was criminally obtained, and that the investigation found that the money was deposited in his own bank account and used for his own purposes.

The case has been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for prosecution for money laundering charges under Article 5 (a) of Act No. 2014/10 (Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act).

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has also been ordered to recover MVR 1 million owed to the state.
