Deputy Minister of the Heritage Ministry Waleedha Waleed has resigned from Jumhooree Party (JP).
Former JP Women's League President Waleedha Waleed resigned from the party last night to support President Solih in the upcoming presidential election.
Waleedha had joined Jumhooree Party in 2011.
Minister at the President's Office Ahmed Sameer and Immigration Controller Ahmed Mohamed (Hanafy) had also resigned from JP after the party decided to participate in the upcoming presidential election separately with its own candidate.
JP had announced its presidential primary earlier. The deadline for applying for the primary expired at 12:00 pm today.
