The work on the first launch ferry to begin Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services in Huvadhoo has been completed and handed over.
The construction of the ferries used in the Integrated National Public Ferry Network is currently being carried out by Al-Shaali Marine.
MTCC said that the launch ferries are in good condition like those used in RTL Phase 1. And that the ferry will be larger in size and more spacious than the existing launch ferries.
MTCC said six launches will be completed by July to begin services in Huvadhoo. The first phase of the services will commence with six launches. The RTL ferry service will also connect Addu and Fuvahmulah.
MTCC said the first ferry services will be free in Huvadhooo just like in the other atolls. During the free trips, ferry reservations can be made through the island councils.
Under Phase 1 of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network, 41 islands in HA., HDh. and Sh. atolls have been provided with RTL's high speed ferry services. RTL ferry services have also been started in Lh. atoll.
