Heavy Post Pvt Ltd has been awarded the contract to protect the shore of K. Thulusdhoo.
Heavy Post was awarded the contract at a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure today. Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry while Heavy Post Managing Director Ibrahim Zameer signed on behalf of the company.
The cost of this project, set to be completed in 120 days, is MVR 36,123,485.49 (Thirty-six million, one hundred and twenty-three thousand, four hundred and eighty-five rufiyaa and forty-nine laari).
Under this project, to protect the eroding area on the island's eastern side, six 70-metre large rock breakwaters, two 50-metre large rock air-groins and a 170-metre large rock rivetment will be installed, and the beach will be enriched with sand. In addition, the island's shore protection work will be carried out to solve the problem of erosion.
