A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain with thunderstorms in certain areas of Maldives.
The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for 8 atolls of Central Maldives, from K. Atoll to M. Atoll. The alert duration is until 1:00 am.
The Met Office said heavy rains with thundershowers are expected in these areas.
While heavy rains are expected and caution has been advised, it is notable that this is the hottest period in Maldives. Due to the heat wave, some islands are in need of clean water and have asked the authorities for help.
