The Criminal Court has ordered the remand of 13 people involved in a prostitution network arrested in the capital city.

Police have arrested 13 people in an operation in capital Male' city, against a widespread human trafficking network. They were remanded in custody for 15 days.

Arrestees were 8 Bangladeshi men, a Bangladeshi woman and 4 Thai women.

Police said the operation was conducted following intelligence information that a large-scale prostitution business was being carried out.

Police are investigating the incident further.
