The women’s category of the biggest tournament in the Maldives Chess Association (MCA) kicked off on Thursday night
The women's category of the National Chess Championship has started.

The women’s category of the biggest tournament held by the Maldives Chess Association (MCA) kicked off on Thursday night. A total of 19 players are competing in the women's category. There will be 11 rounds in this category.

The competition is divided into three categories. Which includes a category for the clubs, women's category and opens event.

Out of the 14 clubs which competed under the Clubs category, Castle Chess Club and Academy won the club event.

Previously, the national competition was held as a separate competition in each category. The main purpose of the national chess tournament is to recruit players for the national teams.
