Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid has stated that the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will win the upcoming presidential election and be elected for a second term.

He said this in a tweet to after a meeting held with campaign team to launch the presidential election campaign in the North Maldives.

In his tweet, Shahid said the MDP presidential candidate, President Solih's campaign team for Dhidhdhoo constituency has held its first meeting today. He also said that with God's grace, President Solih will be elected for a second term.

Apart from President Solih, JP presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim, PPM presidential candidate Yameen Abdul Gayoom, MNP leader Mohammed Nazim and former Home Minister Umar Naseer have announced to contest in the upcoming Presidential elections.

The upcoming presidential election is expected to be thrilling with so many candidates competing. Meanwhile, only the ruling party has formed a coalition for upcoming elections. Ruling MDP has formed a coalition with both Adhaalath and MDA for the upcoming elections.
