Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has stated that 12 years of school education is more important than 10 years of school life to become a strong youth. He made the statement while speaking at the awards ceremony of Kalaafaanu School.

Speaking at the ceremony as a chief guest, the Minister said that in his view, two years of A-level education is very important for a growing child. Hence, whatever field the student chooses to go further, it is very important for the student to spend those two years in the school environment, said the Minister.

"During those two years, the student will learn more about the field of what they want to study. Students will have more time to grow. Interacting with people, facing different situations of that age, overcoming them, and experiencing all of this in a caring environment," the Minister said.

In his speech, Minister also reminded the students of the scholarship opportunities offered by the Ministry of Higher Education, followed by their A-Level completion.

According to the Minister, having adequate education and skills in the field you want to pursue are two main qualities required to be successful. Hence he highlighted that it is important to think about the best approach to providing higher education, vocational education, and skills to students and that we need to ask ourselves what skills we want to instill in our children.

Advanced level qualifications (known as A levels) are subject-based qualifications that can lead to university, further study, training, or work.
