The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has said that the new code of conduct for employees working across and at all levels of the Justice System of the country upholds the previous rules that prohibited staff from actively engaging in politics.

DJA made the statement responding to speculations that the new code of conduct did not uphold the previous prohibition order on participation in politics by its employees.

DJA said that it introduced a new set of rules aiming to advance public confidence and trust in the Justice System of the country.

DJA in its statement clarified that there has never been a prohibition order on its employees becoming ordinary members of political parties or voting in internal elections of political parties.

However, the department warned that “no employee shall in any circumstance compromise on their impartiality”.
