The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) starts issuing sponsorship letters to students who have qualified for the national loan scheme.

The Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan said today that soon funds for higher studies would be arranged for the students who have been selected for the loan scheme.

He also said that payments to educational institutions (both local and overseas) would be made on time to make things easier for students who pursue their educational programs under the national loan scheme.

Dr. Hassan says that the good news has been emailed to students that had been selected for the loan scheme. He said that instructions to unlock the loan funds were also included in the emails. He urged all selected students to follow the instructions with special care.
“For example, if a self-funded student who has been selected under the scheme had paid for an overseas visa, the money spent by the student would be reimbursed under the government-arranged fund”, said Dr. Hassan.

MoHE received 1,507 applications for the loan scheme this year. However, 720 students would be sponsored by the ministry in 2023 under the national scheme introduced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

“MoHE is hosting an information session regarding the student loan utilization procedure for the loan awardees of HELS 2023 (Higher Education Loan Scheme 2023). Kindly please join our FB Live Information Session tomorrow”, the Higher Education Ministry tweeted today.
