Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom urges everyone to support to decreasing Covid-19 cases in greater Male' area.

In a tweet referring to the concerns raised by businessmen for the delay in reopening tourist souvenir shops, and guest houses in greater Male', Minister Mausoom urges everyone to follow the Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidelines to decrease the Covid-19 numbers.

Minister stated that the delay in reopening guest houses, tourist souvenir shops, and other tourist service facilities have caused major loss for the business owners in the greater Male' area. Minister added that to reopen the greater Male' for tourists, HPA guidelines have to be followed and maintained, highlighting that everyone’s support is required to keep the numbers down.

Meanwhile, since October 15th, 94 guest houses outside the greater Male' area are permitted by the Ministry of Tourism to reopen for tourist services.

Although a decrease in numbers was seen from daily positive cases in Maldives, almost a hundred cases were recorded as daily Covid-19 positive cases yesterday. HPA has also reported that the number of Covid-19 positive cases reported from Flu clinics has also started to increase once again.
