Parliament Member for Hulhumale' Constituency, Ali Niyaz, stated that despite some members leaving the MDP to join the government, he believes no more members will follow.

Speaking at a press conference on behalf of the MDP parliamentary group today, MP Ali Niyaz said that although the party's 13 members left, the MDP still holds the majority in parliament. There are currently 43 members in the MDP Prosecutor's Group. Niyaz said the party would do everything possible to keep the members in the party.

MP Niyaz expressed his view that politicians who switch parties after being elected to parliament on a particular party's ticket are committing a grave injustice towards their constituency and the people. He acknowledged feeling humiliated by members leaving the party but did not have any complaints about it.

In addition, Niyaz expressed confidence in the MDP's ability to maintain their majority in parliament and work without obstruction.
