According to the 2024 Henley Passport Rankings, Maldives has once again emerged as the strongest passport in South Asia.

In addition to holding steadfast to its reputation as the most powerful passport in the South Asian region, Maldives has achieved a commendable 58th position globally.

In 2023, it held the 61st rank with access to 89 visa-free countries. Fast forward to 2024, and the Maldivian passport has climbed three positions, now boasting an impressive 94 visa-free countries. This is also an indication of the country's growing foreign influence.

The Henley Passport Index is the original, authoritative ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

According to the Henley Passport Rankings for South Asia’s Strongest, India is positioned at 80th globally, with access to 62 countries without a visa. Bhutan, another noteworthy contender, holds the 87th spot, offering its citizens visa-free entry to 55 countries. Meanwhile, Bangladesh held the 97th position, with 42 visa-free countries, and Sri Lanka in the 96th position, with 43 visa-free countries.

The achievements in the Henley Rankings for the Maldivian Passport reflect the strength of the Maldivian Government's foreign policy, its strong ties with countries, and its efforts to promote global travel and international relations.
