President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to bolster the methadone treatment system for individuals struggling with certain types of drug addiction. The President made this declaration while responding to a question during the "Raees ge Javaabu" series, an initiative by the President's Office to address queries from the public.

The decision came in response to a query posed by Aminath Nathasha, who inquired about providing individuals undergoing treatment for drug addiction the opportunity to complete their treatment without interruption. Nathasha highlighted a previous case where an individual participating in methadone treatment was later ordered by the drug court to enter rehabilitation, disrupting their progress.

Expressing her concern, Nathasha proposed that instead of mandating rehabilitation for individuals already undergoing methadone treatment, arrangements should be made through legal mechanisms to allow them to continue their methadone treatment seamlessly.

In response, President Muizzu acknowledged the need for reform and indicated his intention to discuss the matter with the Ministry of Homeland Security and other relevant authorities. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the existing framework to enable individuals to continue their treatment without being withdrawn abruptly.

"I hope to engage with the Ministry of Homeland Security and other relevant authorities to reinforce the current system and ensure that individuals can continue their treatment within the confines of the law," stated President Muizzu.
