President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that school examinations will proceed as scheduled, dispelling earlier concerns about the possible preponement of exams due to overlap with parliamentary elections.

The parliamentary elections, scheduled for the 21st of next month, coincided with the planned dates for school examinations, prompting initial discussions about accelerating the exam schedule. However, following consultations with Education Minister Ismail Shafiu, President Dr. Muizzu confirmed today that there will be no changes to the exam timetable.

President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the importance of making decisions that prioritize the convenience of parents and students. He underscored the government's commitment to ensuring that any adjustments to the academic calendar would not cause undue difficulties for parents and students.

Initially scheduled between April 16 and 27, the second-term examinations for grades seven, eight, and nine faced rescheduling due to their overlap with the election period. As a result, the Education Ministry issued a circular to schools, rescheduling the exams to occur between March 27 and April 25, aligning them with official school days. the Education Ministry also urged schools to collaborate with the Election Commission's focal point to determine the feasibility of holding exams on Saturday, April 20.
