In a meeting held today in Antigua and Barbuda, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives and President Wavel Ramkalawan of the Republic of Seychelles emphasized the challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and discussed ways to collaborate for overcoming these challenges. The leaders underscored the significance of the upcoming 4th International Conference on SIDS (SIDS4) in addressing these issues.
The discussions between the two presidents covered various topics, including youth collaboration, people-to-people exchanges, and the security of the Indian Ocean Region. They also focused on national efforts to mitigate climate change effects, sea level rise, and coral reef restoration. President Ramkalawan assured full support from Seychelles to the Maldives in all these areas, and both leaders noted their countries' common positions on many issues, agreeing to enhance cooperation.
