The opposition political party coalition has announced, that the year 2021 is aimed, at freeing the imprisoned former President and winning the upcoming Local Council Elections.
The announcement was made in a statement released on the occasion of the New Year. In this statement, the opposition political party coalition expressed their warm greetings and earnest felicitations to all Maldivians.
The statement further reads that the year 2020 was wrapped up, with many efforts put into freeing, former President Yameen, who is kept imprisoned unethically. It had brought the opposition coalition parties stronger, and its political activities have become more powerful. It also supported the expansion of the political activities of the opposition coalition. The coalition has formed steering committees to strengthen its political activities.
Further in the statement, reflecting the Covid-19 pandemic, the opposition coalition stated that the year 2020 was challenging in many ways. Opposition parties mentioned that the Maldives has experienced many economic challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The opposition accused that the weak policies introduced to address the pandemic have caused more challenges to the people during the Covid-19 pandemic. In return, the government administration is in question for its capabilities.
