Parliament Speaker and PNC Chairman, Abdul Raheem Abdullah has firmly rejected accusations that President Mohamed Muizzu is involved in bribing Members of Parliament (MPs). The opposition has claimed that money is being distributed to MPs in Muliyaage (the official residence of the president of the Maldives), and that political activities involving First Lady Sajidha are part of these efforts.

In an exclusive interview with SanguTV, Abdul Raheem dismissed these allegations, stating that President Muizzu is not the type of leader to engage in such practices. He emphasized that the current administration is committed to transparency and will not resort to bribery as suggested by the opposition.

Abdul Raheem compared the current situation to past administrations, noting that similar claims were made against previous governments. He cited First Lady Fathmath Ibrahim’s actions during the Yameen administration as a reference point but argued that such tactics will not be seen under Dr. Muizzu’s leadership.

He also questioned whether anyone had observed Madam Sajidha engaging in activities with MPs to influence their decisions, asserting that such claims are unfounded. Abdul Raheem reiterated that President Dr. Muizzu is dedicated to maintaining integrity and will not resort to bribing MPs.
