As of September 2, 1,367,825 tourists have visited the Maldives, up from 1,238,275 during the same period last year.
Tourist numbers have been climbing steadily since the beginning of the month, with an average of 5,560 arrivals per day.
According to statistics, the Maldives' top source markets for tourists this year are:
- China: 199,316 tourists
- Russia: 147,755 tourists
- The UK: 117,855 tourists
- Italy: 101,748 tourists
The Maldives currently offers 174 resorts, 14 hotels, 881 guest houses, and 153 safari vessels to accommodate visitors. The Ministry of Tourism has set a target to attract two million tourists by the end of the year.
