The deputy chair of Maldivian Democratic Party’s disciplinary committee, Mr Shuaib Ali, has been placed under suspension due to an ongoing investigation of the disciplinary committee.
Through a tweet, MDP has announced the suspension of Mr. Shuaib. It has been suspected that this is due to the release of artwork of Mr Nasheed and HEP Mr Ibrahim Solih as cartoon characters.
Mr Shuaib has sent a letter to MDP chairperson Hassan Latheef, suggesting former President Mohamed Nasheed into removal of his position in the party. The letter was then sent to HEP Mr Ibrahim Solih as Mr Shuaib was not satisfied from the reply received by the MDP chairperson.
From the letter sent to the president, Mr Shuaib has mentioned that, while the president is running from a party’s ticket, the chairperson has not accepted him and avoided acting on the 75th point of the party’s fundamental regulations. Referring to which Mr Shuaib requested the removal of Mr Hassan Latheef from the position of the chairperson of the MDP.
MDP has yet to announce the specific reason for the suspension of Mr Shuaib.
