The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed that positive cases from the Dhevvadhoo cluster have risen to 64 cases.

The most recent positive case was reported from a student studying in Gaaf Alif Atoll Education Centre. Two students who share the same room were reported positive to Covid-19. Following the positive case reported from the Atoll Education Centre, the center was closed on January 14.

HPA has informed that two positive patients out of the Dhevvadhoo cluster will be transferred to Male’ for further treatment. The two patients above 70-year old are high-risk patients to Covid-19.

Since December 23, a total of 64 positive cases have been reported from the Dhevvadhoo cluster. The cluster includes 54 people positive from Dhevvadhoo Island, 04 people positive from L. Fonadhoo Island, two people positive from Ga. Dhaandhoo, a person from Ga. Villingili and two people from Hulhumale’.

So far, HPA has taken 750 test samples concerning the Dhevvadhoo cluster. In connection with the Dhevvadhoo cluster, 255 people are direct contact with positive cases. Out of which, 101 people are high-risk people to Covid-19.

Due to the recent positive cases reported from Ga Villingili island, HPA has announced to identify anyone who has traveled in the atoll ferry on January 09. HPA has also requested tho who had traveled in the atoll ferry to quarantine themselves till January 23.

The first case from Dhevvadhoo island was reported on December 23. After which, HPA has requested everyone who traveled to Dhevvadhoo island last December to quarantine themselves. Following this, HPA announced to identify everyone who traveled to Dhevvadhoo island after November 30.

Currently Ga. Villingili and Dhaandhoo are under monitoring in connection to the Dhevvadhoo cluster. Meanwhile, random sampling is ongoing from the southern atoll islands.
