Inguraidhoo Constituency MP and PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah emphasized that the government’s budget for next year prioritizes finishing development projects already underway, addressing opposition concerns about project details for rural areas.
During the parliamentary debate on the proposed budget, MP Falah highlighted that this budget would implement the highest number of projects to date. He stressed that citizens are eager for the government to swiftly deliver on its development initiatives rather than merely initiating new projects.
“The budget may outline projects for the next 100 years, but what matters is not just starting projects—it’s about completing them,” he said, pointing out that merely beginning projects with minimal initial funding, like starting an MVR 10 million project with MVR 1 million, does not ensure progress.
Meanwhile, the opposition MDP has accused the government of misleading members with a proposed budget showing MVR 2 billion in allocations.
The government has proposed an MVR 56.6 billion budget for the upcoming year.
