Former STO Managing Director Hussain Amr has called on the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to take a stand against corruption within government agencies.

In a Facebook post directed at Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Amr emphasized the ministry's responsibility to provide ethical guidance on key national issues. He highlighted public outrage over recent allegations that individuals were unknowingly registered as members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) using fraudulent forms.

Amr condemned the misuse of state resources, including government office space, electricity, and employees, for such activities, calling it a betrayal of public trust. He also criticized the involvement of senior government officials in the scandal, stating that it undermines the integrity of governance and misleads official institutions such as the Elections Commission.

As a former vice-presidential candidate for The Democrats in the 2023 election, Amr urged the Islamic Ministry to use its platform to educate the public on the gravity of such misconduct. He further suggested that Friday sermons should address the issue and encourage citizens to reject unethical practices.
