Minister of Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, has welcomed the introduction of the Thaana script on the exterior of the national airline's aircraft, marking a significant cultural tribute as the Maldives celebrates 60 years of independence.
In a post on X, Minister Adam Naseer expressed his appreciation for the move, calling it “a very promising and happy step forward in the field of Dhivehi language and culture.” He praised the decision to display the name of Dhivehi Raajje in the Maldivian Thaana script as a meaningful reinforcement of national identity.
Maldivian Airlines, the national carrier, announced that all of its aircraft will feature the Thaana inscription as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The airline stated that the change reflects its deep connection to the identity and heritage of the Maldivian people.
