North Galolhu Constituency MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu), has criticized the government for its lack of genuine intention to provide land and housing to the residents of Malé City.

After meeting with residents of the Galolhu North constituency last night, MP Kudu expressed concern over the government’s handling of housing projects. He highlighted the ongoing issues with the stalled 4,000 flats project and the finalization of the land allocation list, both of which have left people in limbo.

According to MP Kudu, housing remains the top concern among residents, with many voicing frustration over the lack of updates for over a year. He stated that there is widespread uncertainty regarding whether people will receive the promised flats or land allocations.

The 4,000 flats being constructed in Hulhumalé by Green Life Corporation (FDC) were initiated under the land ownership scheme launched by the previous administration. However, the project has faced delays due to investigations by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) into allegations of corruption in the selection of flat recipients.

Additionally, 9,003 plots of land were announced under the first phase of the landlord scheme, with allocations planned from Hulhumalé, Giraavaru Falhu, and Gulhifalhu. Despite these announcements, the allocation process has stalled, adding to residents’ frustration.

MP Kudu emphasized the growing dissatisfaction among his constituents and called for immediate action and transparent communication regarding housing and land allocation projects.
