The Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances held a press conference this afternoon to provide the media with the latest information on the progress of their inquiries. Commission member Misbah Abbas provided updates via a virtual press conference.
Speaking at the press conference, commission member Misbah Abbas briefed reporters on the progress of their inquiry into the forced disappearance of Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, stating that the commission attaches high priority to solving Rilwan’s case. He said that the commission had earlier released a photograph of the weapon found at the purported site of Rilwan’s abduction and subsequently announced a MVR 500,000 reward for anyone who can provide enough information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Rilwan’s disappearance.
Misbah stated that the commission strongly believes that there are individuals within the public who have knowledge of the incident, appealing to them to contact the commission. He also added that the commission can be reached through the secure communication channels established and reassured the safety of informants coming forth.
