Parliament member, Mr Usham
Parliament member Mr Usham says that the companies involved in bribing are getting more projects from all previous and present governments, while these companies should be penalised for bribing.

In regards to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC)’s case of corruption involvement in the construction work of Zikra Mosque, against the Former Islamic Minister Dr. Ziyad Bagir, member Usham says that these corruption would involve more than just one person.

Moreover, Mr Usham added that these can only be stopped once the bribe and the person receiving the bribe gets prosecuted through the constituency. Mr Usham said that so far, neither any previous government nor the current government has penalised these companies, rather they are presented with more projects and as long as this is continued without any penalisation, these companies will continue to rob from the people.

ACC sent a request to the Prosecutor General (PG), to file a case against the Former Islamic Minister, Dr. Ziyad Bagir. The case file requested against Dr Ziyad is in regards to the handing over of the 10 storey building construction work of Zikra Mosque. ACC’s investigation showed that this project involved corruption in benefiting specific persons of interest. The investigation showed that the former Islamic Minister has requested twice to hand over the project without a public bid announcement. Islamic Ministry then collected 3 proposals for the project and presented the project to the SJ company through these proposals, but as per ACC’s investigation it is unclear on how the process went and through the investigation they have received enough evidence of working towards benefiting specific persons of interest.
