President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on this Wednesday has made changes to the current government administration. The administrative reorganisation of the government comes under President Solih’s efforts to improve and strengthen public services and ensure the delivery of the administration’s pledges.
Under the changes, the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology was dissolved while renaming the Ministry of Environment as the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.
With the dissolution of the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology is mandated with undertaking the functions and responsibilities of the dissolved office. The staff would also be transferred to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also transferred the functions of the National Drug Agency (NDA) under the Ministry of Health. The functions of NDA was previously handled by the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services.
The President made the decisions under powers vested upon him in Article 116 of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.
