The UK regulator on Friday approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for 12 to 15 year-olds in the country.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said it had given the approval after "carefully reviewing clinical trial data". Similarly, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had earlier given the approval for the vaccines to be administered to adolescents.
Over 60 million people in the UK have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine through the biggest inoculation program the country has ever launched.
The UK has four vaccines approved for use: Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Janssen; three of which require two doses for maximum protection.
