Parliament member, Ibrahim Nasheed criticises the new guideline on travelling back and forth to the islands.
As per the recently published guidelines by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), anyone travelling from islands with guest houses to other islands, will have to be quarantined. This is set to prevent further spreading of the Covid-19 from travellers arriving to the guest houses from different regions of the world to the local communities in the islands.
Criticizing the new guidelines, Parliament member, Ibrahim Nasheed said that the tourists have to have a negative PCR test for Covid-19 at the entrance to the country, so there should not be any worry for a community spread hence a 14 day quarantine period mentioned in the guidelines for travelling out of the islands does not make any sense.
HPA has said that the new guidelines were made along with advice and recommendation from the Tourism Ministry.
Guest houses are set to open on October 15th from the islands without any covid-19 cases.
