Speaking at the Parliament sitting held today, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has stated that out of 32 only four bills have been submitted to Parliament in its third session for the year by the government.
Noting the number of bills submitted to the Parliament by the government, Nasheed further stated that it is unlikely that any additional bills would be submitted.
However, Nasheed reassured that the work on the bills that have been received so far is going forward at a speedy rate. He also stated that with the fewer bills to work on, the parliamentary committees have more time to work on the bills efficiently.
Prior to the third session of the Parliament for the year, the Attorney General's office released a list of 32 bills, which were planned to be submitted at the Parliament in its third session of the year. These included bills related to the constitution, social, economic, and environmental issues.
