Opposition PNC party Vice President, Adam Shareef Umar warns that if Indian military activities are increasing in the Maldives, it will have a major risk to the tourism industry, decreasing the revenue generated from the industry.

Speaking at the recent opposition coalition party meeting, Former Defence Minister and current parliament member, Adam Shareef Umar raised concerns on activities of India military members currently in Maldives.

In his speech, Adam Shareef has said that Maldives have the capacity to protect the independence of the governance, by ensuring that the governance does not get influence from foreign countries. But the current state's dependency to foreign support has put fear in the independence of the governance of the state.

He further said that during the former President Yameen’s presidency, Indian Military and its Dornier flights were sent back as having them in the country was denied by many.
