The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has presented a special award to 50 individuals who have made valuable contributions to the tourism sector in the Maldives.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony held at Kurumba Maldives.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of tourism in the Maldives, one of the most notable out of the 50 awards given by MATI is the award given to those who introduced tourism in the country. The award was presented to Mohammed Omar Manik, Champa Hussain Afeef, Kerafa Ahmed Naseem, and George Corbin.
The award was also presented to two former Presidents, President Maumoon Abdul Qayyum and President Ibrahim Nasir, for their valuable contributions to tourism in the Maldives.
Award winners also included individuals, resorts, airlines, companies, and travel agencies. The award winners were selected after a panel of judges reviewed the nominees.
