35 percent of the vote is not acceptable for the election of the President or the Head of State, the senior leader of the MDP and the President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has said.

As part of the reforms to change the system of government to a parliamentary system, former President Nasheed submitted a resolution to the MDP Congress to come to power with 35 percent of the vote.

Speaking on the topic in an interview with a local media, President Solih said that he does not support the reform that brings 35 percent of the vote to power. The President said he does not accept a person who gets 35 percent as the head of government or state.

"I don't believe in any way that someone who gets 35 percent will be the head of government or state. I believe in the absolute majority of the people as it is now. The President said.

Among the ways in which President Nasheed has proposed to change the system of government to a parliamentary system, the President will be elected by popular vote. The proposed amendment states that the system introduced in the Maldives proposes to give the President the power to nominate people for senior positions in the state administration and to dissolve the Parliament.

That majority is 35 percent, according to his amendment.
