Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital's Pediatrician, Dr. Ahmed Faisal has urged parents to have children vaccinated as the number of people getting infected with COVID-19 is increasing.
In a video released by the Health Protection Agency today, Dr. Faisal said that COVID-19 was significantly decreased because many people have been vaccinated. As such, he said the number of deaths and cases of serious illnesses have been greatly reduced.
Dr. Faisal said some children have been infected with the virus in Male'City recently and some have been admitted to hospital for treatment. Therefore, he said children should be vaccinated as soon as possible to protect them from the virus.
"Children sometimes have to be admitted. Some have been admitted because they had fits and some had pneumonia because of COVID-19. As a protective measure against this, our advice is to vaccinate children. Then God-willing, the incidence of infection in children and the spread of the disease in the community due to the infected children will be greatly reduced", said Dr. Ahmed Faisal.
