The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the Foreign Secretary of India to make an official visit to the Maldives.

As per the Foreign Ministry, the Foreign Secretary of the Republic of India, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, will make an official visit to the Maldives, from 8 to 10 November 2020, on the invitation of the Foreign Secretary of the Maldives, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed.

During this visit, the Foreign Secretaries of the Maldives and India will review progress on ongoing projects under Indian development assistance, and the agreed outcomes of the sixth Joint Commission Meeting held in Delhi in December 2019.

Foreign Ministry has stated that the Foreign Secretary of India will make a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of Parliament President Mohamed Nasheed.

During his visit, the Foreign Secretary of India will also make a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of Economic Development, Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Minister of Tourism, and the Minister of Defence.

This will be the Foreign Secretary’s first visit to the Maldives since assuming this office on 29 January 2020.
