The government of the Maldives decides to establish two Junior colleges and a Tourism training Facility in the Maldives.

Speaking at the parliament today, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer stated that the biggest capital of the nation is the youth of the country and while expanding the economy it is vital to increase the involvement of the youth.

Minister Ameer also stated that to increase the involvement of youth, the government plans to support enhancing their skills. Following which the government has planned and budgeted to establish a Tourism training Facility in Laamu Atoll, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes in Hulhumale’, Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, Fuvahmulak, and R. Alifushi. The government has also planned and budgeted to establish two Junior colleges in two regions of the country and enhance the facilities of the Maldivian National University (MNU).

Minister Ameer said that the most important lesson learned from the ongoing pandemic is the importance of teaching different skills to young people and the importance of building a resilient workforce.

Minister Ameer highlights that the 2021 budget includes different projects and programs to enhance the skills of young people.
