The Ministry of Tourism suspended the permit given to Kandima Maldives resorts to operate.

Meanwhile, Kandima Maldives continues to face a lot of backlash for having multiple cases positive to Covid-19 reported following the test samples taken after one staff member from Kandima passed away while being positive to Covid-19.

From the information received to Ras Online, the Tourism Ministry suspended the permit given to the Kandima Maldives Resort to reopen and operate amidst the ongoing pandemic. The Tourism Ministry and Kandima Maldives Resort have yet to give an official comment on it.

The staff member who passed away from Kandima Resort reported being sick for over ten days before he was hospitalized, in Dhaalu atoll hospital due to deteriorated health. Following his test results showing positive to Covid-19, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) conducted multiple tests on Covid-19 from Kandima Resort and from which 60 cases have been reported positive.

This is also the first time where multiple positive cases to Covid-19 were reported from a tourist facility in the Maldives.

Following the multiple positive cases to Covid-19 reported from Kandima Maldives Resort, Maldives Police Service, and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives continue to investigate to see whether any negligence of the resort is involved.
