Vice President of the political party Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), Aminath Nadhira raised concerns over the recently approved resident visa for 250K USD for foreigners.
As per the recent amendment brought to the Immigration act by the parliament, corporate resident visas to foreigners will be issued upon the investment of at least USD 250,000. For which, Vice President of MRM Ms. Nadhira stated her concerns against the parliament's decision.
In a tweet, Nadhira states that a resident visa should be issued upon the investment of at least USD 1 million with proper rules and regulations set. She also said that it sounds suspicious for making such a decision by the parliament as a medium enterprise can also invest a minimum of USD 250,000 in the Maldives.
Meanwhile, a lot of public concerns started rasing following the Parliaments' approval of the amendment brought to the Immigration act. Where most people have questioned the purpose of it, and whether it could increase the benefits for the Maldives. Some have been raising concerns on whether it was a hasty decision made in desperation.
On Sunday, the Parliament passed amendments to the Immigration Act to allow resident visas to foreigners upon the investment of at least USD 250,000. The amendments were passed with a majority vote of 52 members.
The amendment is to come into effect within 14 days.

USD 250,000.00 to get a resident visa is fishy. Maldives value to get a resident visa should be minimum USD 1 Million investment with proper rules and regulations set.
