Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem announces that L. Gan and Ungoofaaru hospital will become a tertiary hospital in the upcoming year.

Speaking at a PSM news program, Minister Naseem said that the goal is to decentralize tertiary hospitals and under which, in February 2021, L. Gan and Ungoofaaru hospital will serve as a tertiary hospital. He added that the following decentralization, all the tertiary hospitals will run under a separate board.

It is also a presidential promise of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to establish five tertiary hospitals across the Maldives under the current administration. Currently, Kulhudhuhffushi regional hospital, Ungoofaaru Regional hospital, Gdh. Abdul Samad memorial hospital, Gan Regional hospital, and Addu City Equatorial hospital are planned to be developed into tertiary hospitals.

Reflecting on the response work to the Covid-19 pandemic, Minister Naseem said that the government has done remarkable work, and without making strict rules, the government has controlled it by sharing proper information promptly.
