Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ms. Aishath Nahula, announced that the government plans to develop three new airports in M. Muli, Sh. Bileiyfahi, and B. Thulhaadhoo.
Speaking in celebration of the second anniversary of the current government at a PSM news program, Minister Nahula said that the development work of M. Muli Airport, and Sh. Bileiyfahi Airport will initiate in 2021, and development plans are underway for B. Thulhaadhoo airport.
Minister also said that the airport development in M. Muli will help to reach all the islands in the Maldives in 30 minutes.
Speaking on the achievements of the government in two years, Minister Nahula highlighted the start of Maavarulu Airport and Kulhudhuffushi Airport operations along with the opening of the developing airport in Hoarafushi. She added that early next year, Madivaru airport will start its operation.
