Urbanco - formerly known as Housing Development Corporation, invites competent parties to submit bids for development of luxury residential buildings in Hulhumalé.

Urbanco will be selling five land plots in prime locations of Hulhumalé to competent developers. According to the company which is completely owned by the government of Maldives, bids will be accepted until 1400 hours on August, 17. Urbanco will open the bids at 1400 hours on the above date.

The five land plots – total square area of 11,077 sqm, are located in Hulhumalé Phase One. Two among them are in the ferry terminal area of Hulhumalé Phase One and the remaining three are located near Dhiraagu Hulhumalé Office.

Urbanco says the developers are required to construct 1000 sq. ft. (1+2 rooms) and 1300 sq. ft. (1+3 rooms) apartments in the residential buildings.

Hulhumalé (Phase One) reclamation began in 1997 and ended in June 2002. The island was developed for mainly residential purpose by the then government as Malé lacked land for further development of new settlements.
