Former Vice President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Alhan Fahmy, accuses the current President of MDP and the speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed is trying to pressure President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih into changing the current governance system to a parliamentary system.

The upcoming local council election candidate, Alhan Fahmy, said in a tweet that Nasheed is pressuring the President into changing the governance system of the Maldives.

“Nasheed's purpose of pressuring the President to change the current governance system to a parliamentary system is to become the Prime Minister of the Maldives.’ Alhan Fahmy Said.

Mohamed Nasheed has been vocal about supporting the parliamentary system for running the government. However, when it comes to governance, the views of the current President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih differ from Mohamed Nasheeds' views.

Alhan has also added his criticism towards the government administration by questioning the speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, for conducting the parliament sitting on the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam.
