Parliament member Abdulla Jabir has said that he has appointed his wife and former Attorney General of the Maldives, Uz Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed, to represent former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom as his lawyer.

Speaking at the recent Parliament sitting, MP Jabir has said that he has appointed Uz Dhiyana Saeed as the lawyer to free the former President Yameen from jail.

“To work on the immediate release of the President Yameen, I have appointed Dhiyana Saeed as the lawyer of Yameen,” Said Jabir Abdulla.

Following his statement, MP Jabir was stopped by the deputy speaker of the Parliament, Eva Abdulla, to continue any further. Although he has announced Dhiyana Saeed as the former President's lawyer, Dhiyana has not yet made any comments about it.

MP Jabir has been vocal in calling for the immediate release of former President Yameen, especially speaking during Parliament sitting.
