The recently published guidelines for school principals has raised a lot of concerns and criticism. The accusation of the guideline placing the principal's job at risk, has been raised at the parliament by member Adam Shareef Umar.
Member Adam Shareef Umar, who has worked as teacher, a headmaster, a principal, and the state minister of the Education Ministry, wrote in his letter to the speaker of the parliament, that it is against the constituency to force someone to work, hence the guideline stating how the principals should work is overruling the constituency.
Adam Shareef elaborated more on the fact that the point 37 in the constituency states that everyone has right to choose any work independently, and the point 15 in the constituency states that from the announcements to hire people under Civil service commission should state where the vacant job is available, hence the new guideline states that the schools for principals will be suggested through a committee hired through the Ministry of Education is against constituency.
He also mentions that forcing someone to work is against the constituency, but working for a school chosen through a committee of the Ministry of Education is forcing the principals. And from these guidelines, professional teachers may discontinue work, which will weaken the education system of the country.
He concluded the letter requesting to discuss at the parliament on the issues of the Education Ministry’s new guidelines set to choose which school the government hired principals will be working.
