Parliament majority leader MP Ali Azim has stated that after the year 2012, the government has been running like a gang.

He said it while speaking at the recent parliament sitting. In his statement, MP Ali Azim said that after the 2012 coup, following the joint reform of the executive power, legislative power, and judicial power of the Maldives, the government has been running like a gang. He added that the 241 parliament committee has avoided investigating the issues connecting to this gang during the 18th Parliament sittings.

Speaking further, MP Azim said if the government institutions were running as before, the issues about the government institutions might not be able to be submitted. He also highlighted the issues raised at the Parliament, following the coup in 2012.

“Removal of Palm trees, fire incident at Raajje Tv, Murder of Dr. Afraashim, abduction of Journalist Rilwan, a Pistol found under a pillow of a Minister, were some of the issues raised following the coup 2012,” said MP Azim.

Furthermore, MP Azim said that the goal of Parliament is to bring amendments to how the Maldives Police Service has been running, and the Parliament will investigate the issues related to the Police services and find solutions to it as well. He also added that the Parliament is working to amend the act of Maldives Police Services.
