Vice President of the People's National Congress Party, Ibrahim Shujau, has stated that Judgement sentences were never up for sale.

Shujau stated this in response to the statement by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed, saying that judgment sentences cannot be sold presently.

In his tweet, Shujau said that sentences were never up for sale, while some can assume it was up for sale. He also added that judgment sentences come only with the approval of JSC.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Nasheed has stated that sentences cannot be sold presently, and if Judgement sentences are being sold, it will be known. Nasheed also said that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the parliament will investigate if sentences were being sold.

Speaking further at the press conference, Nasheed emphasized that to avoid any such corruption all the members of the Anti Corruption Commission of the Maldives (ACC) and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) have been replaced.
